Darnford Moors Ecology Park will be temporarily closed from Friday 17 July to Sunday 2 August 2026 while canal construction work takes place on site. For safety reasons, there will be no public access during this period.
This summer’s works are being delivered by two groups of Waterway Recovery Group canal camp volunteers, over the week of 18 to 25 July and 25 July to 1 August, who will be laying a concrete base and constructing two new concrete block walls, each forming part of the long‑term restoration of the Lichfield Canal. The walls will run for approximately 35 metres and mark a significant step forward for the canal at Darnford Moors.
We ask visitors to avoid the site until works are complete.
Work at Darnford Moors continues to be an important part of the wider restoration programme, and the support of WRG volunteers plays a vital role in progressing construction at this key location.
