Gallows Reach marks major milestone

The team at Gallows Reach is celebrating a landmark achievement this week, as volunteers completed 85 metres of new canal, allowing it to be partially in water – another step closer to full re‑watering.

The newly finished stretch has now been bunded off to hold the water, a key move that allows volunteers to shift their focus immediately to the next phase of work heading toward the liftbridge. The bunding also protects the completed channel while construction continues upstream.

The milestone reflects months of steady progress from the volunteers who have been working on the channel, including removing the Big Pipe.

With momentum high, attention now turns to the next stretch of Gallows Reach as the team continues pushing east toward the liftbridge.
