MP visits Lichfield Canal despite the weather

We were delighted to welcome Lichfield’s MP, Dave Robertson, for a recent visit to several of our key sites – Borrowcop Locks Canal Park, Gallows Reach, and Gallows Wharf – even if the weather had other plans!

Despite the rain, Dave took time to see the latest progress at Gallows Reach ahead of the Waterway Recovery Group’s summer Canal Camp. He also viewed the newly installed steelwork for the upcoming lift bridge and explored the flourishing wildlife corridor at Borrowcop Locks.

We were especially proud to introduce him to two of our hardworking Duke of Edinburgh volunteers, who didn’t let the downpour stop them from turning out to lend a hand.

Dave said:

“Great to see the work Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust are doing. They’ve achieved a lot already, but it’s exciting to hear that more is coming. It was a pleasure to meet the Trust at the weekend despite the rain doing its best to get in the way.”

We’re very grateful for his time and ongoing support – and we’ll be sure to order better weather next time!
