Bob Williams retires after 30 years of dedicated service

At this year’s AGM, members celebrated Bob Williams’s remarkable 30 years of service as he retired from the Board. In recognition of his longstanding dedication, Bob was formally awarded the honorary title of Vice President.

Bob has been a cornerstone of LHCRT since joining in 1996. A former NatWest banker with an FCIB qualification, he brought invaluable commercial finance expertise to the Trust, guiding major fundraising efforts and long‑term financial planning throughout his tenure as Finance Trustee.

But Bob’s contribution has always reached far beyond the numbers. He has been a familiar and much‑loved presence on site, at events, and giving talks, sharing the story of the restoration with clarity, enthusiasm and genuine passion. His leadership and deep knowledge of the Trust’s history have shaped LHCRT through some of its most ambitious chapters.

Although stepping back from the Board, Bob will continue to support the Trust in an officer role, ensuring his experience and wisdom remain part of our ongoing work.

Carole Mills, LHCRT Chair, said:

“Bob’s contribution to LHCRT is second to none and it goes well beyond the finance portfolio. You’ll see him in all weathers, at different events, on the construction site, sometimes in a in a digger, at business breakfasts, at canal conferences, giving talks, and more. Besides, if you were to break him in two, you would have LHCRT written through like a stick of rock.

“Huge thanks to Bob for everything that he has done and indeed will continue to do.”
