We are thrilled to announce the appointment of two new trustees to our team.
Leon Southern has been co-opted as the Environment Trustee, following the retirement of Chris Bull, and Chris Bailey takes on the post of Operations Trustee, moving across from his previous role as Volunteer Resources Trustee. Both are very active on the front line of our work to restore, rebuild and reconnect the canals to the national network.
Leon Southern
Leon brings a wealth of experience in woodland and environmental management. His passion for preserving natural habitats and promoting biodiversity aligns perfectly with LHCRT’s goals of creating sustainable, blue-green corridor along the canal route.
Leon’s expertise will be instrumental in driving forward our environmental initiatives, ensuring that the restoration enhances local ecosystems and provides lasting benefits for wildlife, as well as the community.
Chris Bailey
Chris has worked in many roles for Canal & River Trust and British Waterways, including as regeneration manager and enterprise manager. He is also a funding consultant, having secured substantial major project financing.
His combination of strategic vision and practical experience will be critical in facilitating the day-to-day activities of the Trust, ensuring that construction and operations activities are safe and efficient.
