New patron for the Trust announced

We are pleased to announce that Robbie Cumming is our new patron.

Robbie is a well-known narrowboater, iPhone filmmaker and guitarist. He shows the highs and lows of life on his 42ft narrowboat ‘Naughty Lass’, through his popular YouTube channel and the BBC 4 series ‘Canal Boat Diaries’.

He has self-shot four series of ‘Canal Boat Diaries’, filmed and edited over 120 vlogs for his popular YouTube channel, and composed and self-produced three ‘Choons’ albums.

Robbie Cumming said:

“I was proud to be asked to be a patron of Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust and I’m happy to support the restoration of more canals. The Lichfield and Hatherton Canals will provide that missing connection across those wiggly bits of the Birmingham Canal Navigations, and I’m always happy to have additional nice moorings for continuous cruisers and liveaboards. I’d also love to see the funny lone aqueduct across the M6 Toll motorway get connected and carry some boats! The whole project is creating a space for local communities to be proud of.”

Carole Mills, chair of Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust, said:

“We’re delighted that Robbie has joined us as Patron and so grateful for his support. We were honoured that Robbie supported our Big Give Christmas Challenge appeal last year by filming a segment for our promo video, and now for him to join us as a Patron is wonderful. He will be able to help us to raise awareness of the Trust and how important it is to restore, rebuild and reconnect the canals to the national network. We look forward to seeing the day that Robbie and his boat, the Naughty Lass, are able to travel along the Lichfield Canal.”
