We are very pleased to have appointed John Atkins as Company Secretary (designate), co‑opted to the Board until the AGM in June, as part of ongoing succession planning.
John brings more than five decades of senior‑level experience across the public and private sectors, including leadership roles in utilities, energy management, facilities oversight and large‑scale organisational change. His career spans 34 years with National Grid in customer service, operations, project delivery and change management at senior management level, followed by commercial, analytical and contract management roles with PH Jones, Utility Consulting and E.ON.
Alongside his professional career, John has a strong record of voluntary governance and community leadership, having served as a non‑executive director within the NHS, a volunteer director with YMCA Derby, and a school governor. He is known for his collaborative, enabling leadership style and his commitment to helping individuals and organisations reach their full potential.
John joins us motivated by a desire to share the breadth of knowledge he’s acquired over 53 years, enabling our continued development whilst embedding strong governance.
Carole Mills, Chair of LHCRT, said:
“We are delighted to welcome John to the Board. He brings an invaluable depth of experience, a calm, thoughtful approach, and a commitment to supporting the team. This makes him an excellent fit for the Trust and this important role.”
