We’re delighted to announce that Nigel Hallam, known to many as Narrowboat Nige, has been appointed as an ambassador for LHCRT.
Nige is a well-known figure in the canal community, thanks to his engaging YouTube channel ‘Thoughts on Narrowboating with Nige!’, which features over 700 regular videos, His weekly restoration shorts and monthly updates highlight our work, helping to raise awareness far beyond our towpath.
A long-standing LHCRT member who lives aboard locally, Nige brings both technical insight and lived experience to his advocacy. As an assurance and safety advisor with deep roots in railway civil engineering, he understands the challenges of infrastructure and restoration — and communicates them with warmth, humour, and clarity.
Christine Howles, LHCRT’s Communications and Marketing Trustee said:
“Nige has become a familiar and trusted voice in our canal community—championing restoration, celebrating volunteers, and sharing the story of LHCRT with insight and humour.
He is already doing so much to champion our volunteers, celebrate our progress, and connect with larger audience – we’re proud to have him on board.”
Nige said:
“I can’t believe it! I just love infrastructure projects and it’s great to be able to help recognise the great work of LHCRT.”
