Gallows Reach progress update and a revised culvert date

Work on the Gallows Reach section of the Lichfield Canal continues to move forward, with ongoing progress visible from Tamworth Road Narrows through to Gallows Wharf. Volunteers and contractors have been pushing ahead, bringing the next stretch of the line ever closer to completion.

In the latest update video, you’ll see how each section is developing, what has been achieved over recent weeks, and the next steps planned as we head into the summer construction period.

This update also includes an important announcement regarding the revised installation date for the Cricket Lane culvert by Staffordshire County Council. The culvert is now scheduled for spring 2027, following a delay from the original target of spring 2026.

While this change does not affect the current phase of works too badly, it does influence the wider programme and the sequencing of future construction east of Cricket Lane.

The video explains what this means for the overall timeline and how we will adapt our plans to keep momentum strong across the route.
