Gateshead

Gateshead is a happy, if slightly mischievous, bear who can usually be found on a train somewhere riding around the country. He’s got a family that enjoy their boats and he also enjoys boating around the midlands. He’s been responsible for getting his family to join LHCRT because he’s heard about a cake & coffee morning.

Wee One

Huddlesford Bear

This is Huddlesford Bear, so named because that's where his family found him. He lives in north Staffordshire with his bear hug; Sonning, Hanley, Endon, Waverley, Langwathby, Cosford and Tunstall.
He's wearing his best boating clothes including a nice boater's belt embroidered for him by one of his friends. Huddlesford has agreed to be our mascot due to his connection with boating and Huddlesford Junction.

The idea of furry toys as ‘ornaments’ started when we were in the Merchant Navy, where boats rock around a little more than narrowboats do – if they fell off the shelf they wouldn’t break. All had names and personalities then (there were fewer). I’ve been told, however, that I’m not allowed to get any more!
