“Waterways have become an important natural corridor for the movement of wildlife bringing the countryside into the hearts of our towns and cities, providing access to green infrastructure for millions of people.  The canals and their towpaths are valuable assets and have great potential for recreation, nature conservation, education and tourism. We will ensure that our restoration activities protect and enhance the natural environment and  wildlife habitats along the Lichfield and Hatherton canals corridors.”
